Ridgeons Reserve League North, Lowestoft Town Reserves 2 Diss Town Reserves 1: Diss and Lowestoft both fielded teams with a good mix of youth and experience on a sunny afternoon at Crown Meadow.
Injuries, including one for acting manager Craigh Beckham, and player unavailability due to cricket, holidays and work meant that there were five changes to the team on display against Thetford.
Three minutes before the half-time break, Lowestoft's Chris Sandford broke down the right wing and his cross was knocked back for Daniel Mitchell to shoot in from 12 yards.
A 54th-minute free kick was headed on by Ally McKenna for Scott Martin to make it 2-0.
Diss pulled a goal back nine minutes from time. Karl Ansley floated a perfect first-time shot over Adam Rix and into the corner of the net from the right hand corner of the penalty area.
This gave Diss hope that they may be able to force an unlikely draw but they were unable to get a second goal.
