Suffolk Alliance Knockout Cup Final, Sudbourne Hall 126-8 Wortham 127-3: Underdogs Wortham beat Section A League Leaders Sudbourne Hall to win the Knockout Cup for the second time in three years.

Despite atrocious weather conditions at Easton on Sunday morning, the game went ahead with Sudbourne Hall winning the toss and electing to bat.

A youthful Wortham side started well and soon had openers Peck and Brambley back in the pavilion with only 20 runs on the board.

Sudbourne made a brief revival with Tom Jenkin scoring 31 but a quick flurry of wickets saw Sudbourne struggling at 58-5 after 18 overs.

There was strong possibility at this point Sudbourne would fail to bat out their 40 overs but a dogged 24 not out from Rob Jenkin and Daykin's 25 got Sudbourne to a modest 126-8 from their allotted overs.

Wortham bowling honours went to Guy Bower, with figures of 2-10 and Dan Philpot, 3-27.

Wortham made a slow but steady reply with the Coleman brothers, James and David, putting on an opening stand of 40. Tom Rash and James Coleman continued to make steady progress before Coleman went for 31.

A tight spell of bowling from Burt, 2-9, and Tom Jenkin, who conceded only 11 runs from his eight overs, led to Dan Philpot being promoted up the order to try and up the tempo. But he soon went without bothering the scorers.

His departure brought his brother Darren to the crease and he and Tom Rash chiselled away at the miserly Sudbourne attack.

With ten overs remaining, 48 runs were still required.

A close finish looked on the cards until a late salvo of boundaries by man of the match Rash (61 no) saw Wortham home with ten balls to spare.
