Lovewell Blake Norfolk Alliance, Premier Division, North Runcton 181-6 Old Buckenham 177-7:Old Buckenham's relegation fears intensified after their defeat at North Runcton.
Now with only two games left, the equation is simple. They need to win the last two games and then hope other results go in their favour, if they are to remain in the Premier League next season.
At Runcton on Saturday, the better team won.
Credit to North Runcton on two main accounts.
Firstly on their wicket which must of been one of the driest in the county on Saturday and secondly with their bowling as they bowled well, with very few extras or 'freebies', as they restricted Buckenham to a score of 177-7 from 50 overs.
This was no more than a par score with Terry Perry making 39, Jon Fudge 30 and Tom Banham an impressive 37, despite running out Ben Player for 20.
Paul Jefferson returned figures of 5-28, including the first three wickets to fall.
Jefferson then got Runcton off to a flyer hitting length balls scoring 47 in an opening partnership of 78 in 19 overs.
He has been asked to 'pinch hit' for the last month and he is yet to fail and set the tone as Buckenham's bowlers did not match the accuracy of Runcton's.
Jimmy Heaney stood out taking 2-22 from seven overs and despite a late fall of Runcton wickets, Peter Coote saw them home with 59 not out, making the score of 181-6 with 11 balls to spare. Bucks face Downham away and Swardeston at home in their last two games.
