Widow's tribute to dead workman
The man killed in a work-related accident in Diss on Friday has been named.
EDF Energy linesman Jon Crosby, 45, of Dickleburgh, died as a result of serious injuries he sustained in the course of his work on a power cable at an electrical pole in an open space in Sawmills Road.
The incident happened at about 10.30am. Mr Crosby, who is an experienced linesman, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment but later died.
Mr Crosby's widow Carolyn said: "He was a one-off - a wonderful husband and father. Nothing can ever describe the pain we are feeling.
"I have been overwhelmed with support and kindness from so many people, including his colleagues who are themselves suffering terribly, I can't thank them enough."
A joint investigation into the incident has been launched by Norfolk Constabulary and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Power at the Hamlins factory and some surrounding premises was shut down at 3.30pm for two hours to aid investigations into the tragedy. Premises affected included Parlock Quality Products and homes on the Ashbrooke Meadow housing estate.
