More than £2,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK thanks to a whole school effort from Alburgh with Denton Primary School during last month’s Race for Life.

Children from the Reception class all the way up to Year 6 participated in the sponsored race on Tuesday, June 9, by continuously running, walking or jogging around a circuit marked out on their school field with Race for Life banners and balloons.

Staff and parents cheered them on and added to the donations total through the coffee and cake sale, while the prize raffle of the children’s race numbers was won by school pupil Owen Seary.

The exact final tally of donations collected during the event was £2,086.78.
