Tree planted in honour of former Kenninghall resident
A tree has been planted at Kenninghall Primary School in honour of a much-loved former resident.
Ninety-two-year-old Estelle Surpell lived in the village for many years and was an active member of the community.
Following a bout of ill health last year, she had to move to be near her family in Cornwall but left some funds to Kenninghall Primary School, where she was a governor.
Friends, neighbours and the school decided to buy and plant a Gingko tree and some flowering cherries - something they knew nature lover Mrs Surpell would be pleased with.
Organiser Colleen Bee said: "The children will enjoy watching it grow and develop as they themselves do and a plaque has been made to dedicate the tree in Estelle's name."
