A person has been killed after being hit by a train between Thetford and Norwich this morning.
British Transport Police are on the scene but there are long delays to train services.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to the line in Cringleford, Norfolk at 10.31am on Monday, 11 April following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from Norfolk Constabulary and East of England Ambulance Service also attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are now working to identify the deceased and inform their family.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Greater Anglia Trains said: “Services between Cambridge and Norwich via Ely and Thetford may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
“A replacement bus service is being sourced.”
A spokesman for National Rail added: “This is causing delays of up to 60 minutes to trains between the stations. Buses are currently being organised to run between the Ely and Norwich, though there is currently no estimate as to when they will be made available.
“This is expected to continue until approximately 2pm.”
Routes affected include Abellio Greater Anglia between Cambridge and Norwich and East Midlands Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich.
Local buses operated by First Group will accept Abellio Greater Anglia ticket Holders on route 13B which operates between Norwich and Attleborough (30 minute service)
