Teacher takes on bike ride for cancer cash

An Occold man who battled
non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has signed up for a charity cycle ride raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich.

Stephen Dunnett was diagnosed with the condition almost three years ago and was treated at Ipswich Hospital.

The 52-year-old teacher will take on the challenge of cycling 50 miles from the hospital in Holbrook around Boxford, East Bergholt and Lavenham.

He said: “I am in remission now and I hope to get the all clear.

“Until you get cancer you do not realise the level of support out there.

“It is a comfort to know the hospice is there for patients and their families should they ever need it.

“I hope anybody who likes to cycle will sign up to the On Your Bike! rides and help raise funds to help the hospice keep providing those services in future.”

There are two more possible routes on the ride on September 12, of 11.5 miles and 5.5 miles, to take part call 01473 723600 or email fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk
