South Norfolk Council’s Community Pub of the Year competition launches next month.

Set to open from July 17 at South Norfolk on Show, it is the seventh time the council has run the competition.

Our pubs play a huge part in local life as community hubs and through this competition we strive to support them, help raise their profile and make sure they’re here to stay

Previous winners have included Pulham Market’s Crown Inn (2015), The Waterfront, Diss, (2014), the Fox and Hounds, Great Moulton (2012) and the Wortwell Bell (2010).

South Norfolk Councillor Clayton Hudson said: “Our pubs play a huge part in local life as community hubs and through this competition we strive to support them, help raise their profile and make sure they’re here to stay.

“So whether it’s the real ales, the hosting of local events, running the local shop or Post Office, the friendly atmosphere or delicious local food, we want to hear what makes your favourite pub so special. Show them how much you value your local by voting for them now.”

There will be five South Norfolk Neighbourhood winners, and an overall winner who will receive a prize of £500 to put towards an event of their choice for the whole community.

To nominate your community pub, email pubs@s-norfolk.gov.uk, Text PUB plus name of pub and location to 80010 or post the name of the pub and location on South Norfolk Council’s Facebook page.

Nominations close 9 September.
