After six years of gigging, the dreams of three south Norfolk musicians have finally come true as they prepare to release their debut album as a signed band.
Brothers Stacey, 19, and Brodie, 18, Payne of Winfarthing and Paul Reeder, 21, of Roydon, make up pop rock band Twisted Piglet, who have gone from performing in Eye Community Centre, to onstage with Lulu, to being signed with one of the biggest indie labels in the world, Spectra Records.
The group were spotted by a UK contact for Spectra through their YouTube site, and following a month-long wait while contracts were signed, were pleased to announce news of their three-year deal last week.
“We were speechless, said Brodie. “It was a life changing moment. You just can’t describe the feeling.”
The band are now preparing to embark on a mini-tour of Scotland and will be releasing their debut album Eternity in June or July, which will be available worldwide in stores and online. There are also plans for a UK and American tour, including an appearance on the Jimmy Star radio show.
Brodie added: “We just want to make a living out of playing music. Everyone wants fame but it’s playing the gigs, meeting people and making people happy through our music. We want to thank all our fans, we wouldn’t have got here without them.”
As well as getting signed, which band manager and mum Traci Payne puts down to constant promoting and being in the right place at the right time, Twisted Piglet have been chosen to perform their new song Kings & Queens in a scene of a film entitled A Mile In His Soul. The band write all their own material and rehearse at the Payne family home in their garage turned music room. Their album will be made up of their favourite songs, recorded over three years in a studio in Spain.
The group have already developed a strong following of fans through local gigs, their success in BurySound and Band DISScovery competitions, as well as travelling to Serbia where they performed with Guns and Roses and Duran Duran. To follow the band visit www.twistedpiglet.com, Facebook or Twitter.
