The search for missing man Gordon Wilson has been suspended following the discovery of a man’s body in a wooded area in Sible Hedingham.
The body was found by a member of the public at around 1.45pm yesterday. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
No formal identification has taken place yet but Gordon’s family have been updated and the police search suspended .
Mr Wilson, 82, who has vascular dementia, was last seen by neighbours near his home in Leaden Roding at about 11am on Sunday, October 25.
Police believe he took the number 59 bus from Leadon Roding to Chelmsford Bus Station that day.
From there his bus pass is then confirmed as being used to board the number 352 First Bus service at 12.30pm.The bus finished its route in Halstead and the driver believed a man fitting Mr Wilson’s description got off at the final stop at 1.30pm and walked in the direction of Butler Road.
It is believed the pensioner, who can become confused and have difficulty speaking, was seen in Halstead Road, Sible Hedingham, between 2pm and 4pm on the same day.
Last week the Suffolk Free Press reported the organisers of the Facebook page Find Gordon Wilson set up a new search for Mr Wilson three months after he went missing, due to tale place on Saturday, January 30, although this too has been suspended.
In a post an organiser said: “News yet to be confirmed however the search will be suspended for now...my thoughts are with Gordon’s family and friends xx.”
