A renowned musician and TV and radio personality praised Diss Museum for doing ‘fantastic work’ as he re-opened Diss Museum for its 2016 season.

Rick Wakeman, of Scole, best known as the keyboard player for rock band Yes and the star of BBC’s Grumpy Old Men, cut the ribbon in front of a large crowd, and stated he had held a strong interest in Diss Museum since he moved to the area aged 12.

Attendees were invited to explore the new displays and listen to John Cary, who spoke about the display relating to his father Tristram Cary’s work in British electronic music.

During the opening, Suzanne Kayne, Acting Chair of the Trustees, thanked Diss Town Council for their restored £4,000 grant, but emphasised the need for further fundraising.
