Hundreds of metal screws have been found on a Long Stratton road, prompting police to urge motorists to be vigilant.

The warning comes after officers were called by a number of drivers reporting punctures to tyres after driving over the screws in Manor Road and Flowerpot Lane on Sunday, August 16.

The 1 inch extra sharp screws were also found along the A140 at the junction of St. Michael’s Road and Swan Lane on Monday.

PCSO Liz Cook, from Long Stratton Police Station, said: “We do not know how the screws came to be in the road, but we are urging drivers to be vigilant when driving through the town.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious on Sunday concerning this incident or has information regarding it.”
