A distraction burglary which occurred at an address in Attleborough at the weekend has resulted in a police warning for local residents to stay on guard.

Between 2.15pm and 2.30pm on Saturday, three men entered a bungalow in West Carr Road via an insecure side door and told the elderly residents sitting in the living room there was a problem with the water pressure.

While one man distracted the residents, the others searched the house and stolen bank cards and around £100 in cash.

Norfolk police have linked the incident to another similar burglary involving three intruders, which happened on the same day, between 4pm and 4.30pm, in East Winch, near King’s Lynn.

Detective Constable Lee Hall, from Thetford CID, said they had established a VW Bora had been seen in both areas around the stated times urged residents to contact police about cold callers immediately.

Anybody with information is asked to contact 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
