Thelnetham Mill has issued a plea for volunteers with a busy year ahead scheduled.

The mill, entirely run by volunteers, is now producing flour again for the first time since 2002, and one spokesperson has described the demand for help as the highest it has ever been.

Volunteers are being encouraged to attend an Open Day on March 22, from 11am to 2pm, and are also requested to lend a hand on further such events throughout the year. Wine and warm food will be provided, as well as bread rolls made from flour ground at the mill.

Open Days are currently planned for April 5 and 6, May 10, June 14, July 19, August 30 and 31, September 12 and 13, and October 11.

A spokesperson said: “We need volunteers to be there to open the windmill up and help get the sails turning and to show people around the windmill and be generally enthusiastic and outgoing about the work we are doing at the windmill. We also need them to help shut the windmill down at the end of the day.”
