Grasmere eyesore is example of poor planning
I seem to be alone in regarding Grasmere as an eyesore and an example of how not to integrate new building into an historic environment.
How did it get planning permission?
More recent developments around the Mere are much more sympathetically blended into the landscape.
A far less prominent building which has much more charm, character and historic significance is the old infant school which for the last 20-odd years has been allowed to fall down.
It is tucked away behind Mavery House and perhaps there are people who don't know it is there but many Diss people would have spent some of their childhood there.
It is distressing to see the sorry state it is now in. Who owns it? Is it listed? Does anybody have responsibility for its preservation?
