A service to mark the celebration of the life of Geoffrey Ian Moss, formerly of Broad Street, Eye, who died on April 25 at Ipswich Hospital, aged 74, was held at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Eye.
The Rector, the Rev Dr Sumpter, officiated and Colin Bartlett was organist.
In her tribute, his daughter Susannah said her father, a man of great technical knowledge, would be remembered as a professional musician, an archaeologist, lecturer and book binder.
He also leaves a son, Alex.
In a second tribute a friend, Mark Kenyon, spoke of Geoffrey’s experiences as bass guitarist for a popular local band, Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers, who travelled on tour with the Beatles, relating many amusing tales as told to him by Geoffrey.
During his many years spent in Eye, Geoffrey, son of Richard and Dorothy Moss, who ran an electrical shop in Bank House, was a member of Eye Town Council.
His later years were spent at St Edmund’s House, Hoxne.
Donations in Geoffrey’s memory were given to the Red Cross and the parish church.
