A new footpath intended to benefit the pupils at Winfarthing All Saints Primary School has been completed, as one of the first in what Norfolk County Council hopes will be many successful projects provided under the Parish Partnership Scheme.
School students met up with local councillors on Thursday, May 22 to celebrate the finished construction of the £20,000 trod pathway, which was jointly funded by Norfolk County Council and Winfarthing Parish Council.
The path now provides a continuous walking route from the primary school on Chapel Close to the centre of the village.
Hilary Cox, chairman of Norfolk County Council said: “This is an excellent example of why schemes like this need to continue as small things like this together are helping to make a real difference to communities.”
This collaboration with town and parish councils began in October 2013, with the county council providing up to half of successful bids for a £200,000 highway maintenance fund.
It is confirmed to continue into 2015 after the county council announced that it would pledge around £206,500 in support of 68 local initiatives across Norfolk.
