A run of military vehicles across the Diss Express area has helped raise the profile for a memorial to the American airmen who served in the 490th Bomb Group in Eye during the Second World War.

Starting at Progress Way, Eye, the convoy stopped at Fersfield and Thorpe Abbotts, the home of the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum, before finishing the journey at Hardwick, home of the 93rd Bomb Group Museum.

12 people, including six American relatives of veterans who served in the area, were present for the event.

Jackie Ayling, a member of the project, said: “It was a lovely day, they really enjoyed themselves.”
