A north Suffolk church flower festival held in memory of a life-long worshipper who died earlier this year has been deemed a success.

The Mellis Church Flower Festival, held at St Mary’s Church in the village across Saturday and Sunday, was in memory of Edith Hubbard, who died aged 94 in January. As well as attending the church to worship, she also cleaned the building for 60 years.

The event was organised by her daughter Christine Lanchester, and grand daughter Melissa Gooderham.

Incorporating the theme ‘Memories from Mellis Common’, there were 25 floral arrangements depicting pond dipping and fishing, fetching water from the well, and cleaning the church.

There was also games, competitions, teas, and a large draw.
