A Mildenhall slimming consultant is aiming to make a big difference at a charity walk in September.
Donna Cooper, Slimming World Consultant, is calling for women to join the ‘Mildenhall Marvels’ team for Girls Night Out, a sponsored walk in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
The walk, in Bury on Saturday, September 10, will see pyjama-clad women walk either 11.2 or six miles under the cover of moonlight and while wearing flashing bunny ears.
It is not the first time Donna has entered a team in Girls Night Out, with the Mildenhall Marvels team numbering 100 in 2014 and more than 150 in 2015.
“Girls Night Out knocks the spots off every other charity I have ever done. The atmosphere on the walk is amazing,” said Donna.
“On the night, there’s nothing more meaningful than when you head up to the hospice and you see the people who are in the hospice come out to support us.
“We have been set the challenge of trying to get 190 in our team. We raised £24,000 last year, so I can’t wait to see what we manage this year.”
The team is open to anyone wanting to take part – not just Slimming World members – with team registration open every Wednesday at Donna’s Slimming World groups at St John the Evangelist Church, in St John’s Close, from 9am to 7.30pm.
Jenny Baskett, St Nicholas Hospice events and challenge fund-raiser, said: “We don’t charge anyone for any of the things that we do, but in order to do that we need to raise £11,000 a day.
“The Mildenhall Marvels are our biggest and most successful Girls Night Out team, so we are hoping as many – or more – of them will join us to do it all over again this year.”
Registration for Girls Night costs £10 until May 31 (£15 from June 1), including t-shirt and flashing bunny ears.
