It is good news that Diss is possibly receiving grants towards the Corn Hall and certain areas, but £3.1 million spent on parts of the area just to justify the history is very questionable.
Unfortunately the area of Victoria Road which does need possibly £3.1 million spent on it with such traffic shambles will never happen.
Norfolk County Council need, with Diss Town Council, to get a grip on what is the worst “bottleneck” of traffic in East Anglia and publish a long term strategy, to alleviate what is a historical problem. Both ends of Diss, east and west and the middle of Victoria Road need a huge amount of money spent, to improve not only short term but long term traffic issues.
Of course, if there was something historic on Victoria Road that may well pave the way forward for a large grant, but alas there is nothing. Norfolk County Council still has huge financial reserves and the people and businesses of Diss deserve some action.
In the meantime the Corn Hall area gets the cash, and well done to those applying.
