Young Farmers raise charity cash
Diss Young Farmers raised £5,000 for their chosen charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.
A cheque presentation was held at Burston Pavillion, the Young Farmers meeting place, with a speech from Macmillan representative Georgina Daniels.
The funds were said to make a huge difference to cancer care in the Norfolk region, with £5,000 contributing to run call centres, nurses and clothing/essentials for cancer victims.
Last year’s Diss Young Farmers chairman Peter Cullum commended the club’s effort to raise such a sum and said he chose last year’s charity as a tribute to a colleague who sadly passed away due to the disease.
Diss Young Farmers thank all of the companies, small businesses and local people who contributed to the success of their main fundraising event, a charity auction of promises, with many promises donated in the Diss area.
Also thanks go to TW Gaze auctioneer Mike Sarson who gave his time to conduct the auction, and to Pennoyer Centre in Pulham for hosting the event. To join Diss Young Farmers contact club chairman Daniel Woods on 07880 536561.
