Wortham Wine and Social Club celebrated 40 years when past and present members attended a celebratory dinner at the Park Hotel, Diss on Thursday September 12.
Originally formed on September 5 1973 in Wortham by Mary and Percy Coe at their home, the club had in the early years 45 members, later joining with Harleston, Old Buckenham, Attleborough and Palgrave for wine making competitions.
The club has raised thousands of pounds for various charities, and enjoyed many outings and holidays. Membership has decreased over the years, but they are still a viable club, meeting at Roydon Village Hall on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.
Their present chairman is Jim Smith.
