Wortham and Burgate to commemorate First World War with meeting

People are being invited to remember Wortham and Burgate men killed during the First World War at a commemoration on Tuesday.

The Wortham Good Companions Club meeting, starting at 2pm, will be a commemoration and is open to everyone.

It will begin with a commemoration service, before a break for refreshments at 3pm. A sing-along of First World War songs will end carry on until around 4.30pm.

The first reading of the event will be titled The Rash Family, Wortham. Two of the family were killed during the war.

The meeting will conclude with the names of the Wortham and Burgate men who died, followed by a silent tribute to be given by Maureen Cole OBE, Wortham resident, and Suffolk County president of the Women’s Section of the Royal British Legion.
