Supermarket chain Aldi have confirmed an opening date for its new store in Diss.
The discount grocer, replacing the Co-op store on Mere Street, will open on Thursday November 27.
The Diss Express revealed back in January that Aldi would take over the premises, which has been closed since March.
In recent weeks, boarding has been put up around the site with work set to commence.
“We are pleased to announce that Aldi will be opening its store in Diss on 27th November 2014,” said a spokesman for Aldi.
“The new store is part of our expansion strategy to help meet Aldi’s growing customer demand across the UK.”
The company plans to celebrate the opening of their new store to welcome the local people. The spokesman said: “To celebrate the opening of the new store, we will be hosting an event for members of the local community to attend. Further details about this will be revealed at a later stage.”
Jobs will be created at the store to boost the economy. The spokesman added: “We will be looking to recruit staff from the local area and plan to announce further details about job vacancies nearer the time.”
