Christmas songs with their catchy tunes have a habit of lodging in the brain and once popular can earn their creators Royalties for many years.
Local rockers, brothers Chris and James Ready, of Redgrave-based Walkway, are hoping their festive number may be one of those that catches on.
The duo, Chris on lead vocals and James on lead guitar, got together with other musicians from around the country earlier this year to record a brand new Christmas track written by one of the songwriters the band is working with.
The collaboration, which is led by the Ready brothers, is under the name The Silver Temples and the track, called ‘Oh My Word (It’s Christmas Time Again)’, has now been released and has already received air play.
Chris Ready said while it was not a Walkway track and different from their usual style of music, everyone who had heard it liked it. “It has already been played on BBC Radio Suffolk and is lined up to be featured on a load of other stations,” he said.
Walkway, formed in 2008, is made up of the Ready brothers and Alex Rosedale on bass guitar with Joe Evans on drums and percussion.
Their careers have recently moved up a gear with the band working with writers from the UK, Belgium and America, to produce tracks ready to take out to influential figures in the music industry.
Eight songs have now been recorded, some of which may be released in 2014.
The band also continues to be one of the region’s busiest gigging groups with lots of shows lined up over the festive period, including one for local fans at the Conservative Club Christmas Party in Framlingham tomorrow evening. Entry £2.
There are also potentially some exciting tour dates coming up which could see the group supporting big name bands. For more information on the band see www.officialwalkway.com
