Homestart Mid Suffolk is looking for volunteers who could give a helping hand to parents experiencing difficulties in bringing up their child.
The organisation is run by a small dedicated team of four staff and five trustees who work from an office at Kerrison in Thorndon. Although it recently celebrated 30 years of working with families to help give children a good start in life, it is relatively unknown in the area.
Volunteers are trained and accredited to visit families in their own homes to offer support, friendship and encouragement to parents - many of whom can feel isolated in a rural community. They offer reassurance that everyone faces difficulties at some time in bringing up children and the support given is non-judgemental and practical.
Anyone with experience of being a parent and who has three hours to spare a week, could undertake the accredited training and make a real difference to those needing a friendly face and a helping hand with raising children.
