VIDEO: Warm glow as lights switched on

Jack Frost may have been in attendance but that didn’t stop the crowds of visitors at the Diss Christmas Lights Switch-on feeling the warm glow of festive goodwill.

Live performer Jack Frost was just one element of an entertaining evening which saw Santa arrive in the Market Place on a vintage fire engine to join Diss Carnival Queen Alice Cater, town mayor Neil Howard and local bon viveur Pete Gillings, as they marked the start of the town’s countdown to Christmas.

The event, hosted by Park Radio and combined with late night shopping, stalls and refreshments, started with a parade and went on to feature live music from Michael Dann’s Disscord, Diss Junior School Choir, Lydia Pearce’s SingStart!, Felix Simpson and the Salvation Army Band, with local singer Hannah Shaw, 15, closing the event with a collection of traditional Christmas songs.
