A man has died after being struck by a train at a level crossing in Bacton yesterday, the British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed.
A spokesperson for the BTP said: “We were called to a crossing close to Cow Green in Bacton, Stowmarket, Suffolk, on Wednesday, 9 July, after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and Suffolk Police attended the incident, reported to us at 1.14pm.
“Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”
Network Rail reported yesterday afternoon that a person had been struck by a train near Diss, on the 11.30am Liverpool Street to Norwich service.
Trains between the two stations were held up for up to 60 minutes, cancelled, or revised at late notice.
A bus replacement service was also arranged to run between Stowmarket, Diss and Norwich.
Rail services were back up and running at around 5pm yesterday.
