A man killed in a road accident in Hoxne has been named as William Smith of Mellis.

A silver Ford Ranger had left the road and collided with a tree in Eye Road just before midnight.

Emergency services, including police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance were called to the scene of the collision.

Mr Smith, 20, of The Common, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed until approximately 5.30am this morning to allow a collision investigation to get underway and for recovery of the vehicle.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who had been travelling along the road who may have witnessed the collision or seen the car travelling along the road prior to the collision taking place. Calls should be made to the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101 quoting CAD 635 of 21/7/14.
