A new saleroom which is set for use this summer at a Diss auction rooms is proof the business is not ‘standing still’, according to one of its auctioneers.
Elizabeth Talbot, of TW Gaze in Roydon Road, said the construction of the new saleroom, which will also have storage space, is on schedule.
A planning application on behalf of the auctioneers was submitted in October 2013, and was approved with conditions by South Norfolk Council in December.
It will improve upon facilities previously provided by the covered pens.
“It is coming along quite nicely,” she said. “The progress is on schedule and hopefully will be up and running by July, but you know anything can go wrong!
“The weather is with us at the moment and it is on track to be used for the summer.
Mrs Talbot, who is also an antiques valuer for the BBC and has appeared on such shows as Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, added it was the second stage of improvements, with further plans also in the offing.
“Inevitably you either improve or you stand still,” she explained. “It is something that we have spoken of all of the time I have been there, which is almost 20 years.
“The directors have galvanised themselves and put their money where their mouth is.”
