The Forncetts athletics team celebrates their Gold medal success at the Norfolk Village Games

A team of athletes from Forncett St Mary and Forncett St Peter took home the overall Gold medal in the Small Villages category at this year’s Active Norfolk Village Games County Finals, which took place at the University of East Anglia on Friday, July 13.

The Forncetts beat off stiff competition in events such as Junior Tag Rugby, Junior Table Tennis, Short Mat Bowls, Darts, Senior Archery and the Fitness Triathlon to win the grand prize, going one better than their Silver medal in last year’s games and their Bronze medal the year before that.

Glen Humphreys, team co-ordinator for The Forncetts, applauded the entire team for their enormous effort, commitment and dedication they showed in the weeks leading up to this achievement.

The team from Long Stratton also saw great success at the Village Games, winning the overall Gold in the Medium Villages category.

Each winning team received a trophy and photographs with the event’s special guests from Team GB, including skeleton stars James Howard and Jack Thomas, and handball champion Louise Jukes.
