Diss nursery nurse Lucy Land has been named a dieting champion with Slimming World after shedding more than five stone.

Mrs Land, of Bramley Road, who works at Diss Infant and Nursery School, joined the Slimming World group in Eye in February 2011, with the aim of losing weight in time for her 40th birthday.

She has now maintained her weight loss for over a year and been named a Diamond Target Member with the organisation.

“I remember how awful I felt walking into the Slimming World group in Eye, head down in my size 22 elasticated trousers,” she said.

“I needn’t have worried as everyone was so welcoming. I enjoyed my first meeting and didn’t look back.”

After just one month, she had lost 12lbs, reaching her chosen target weight by December 2011 and going from a size 22 to size 8/10.

Mrs Land said her husband Chris and their two children were very proud of her, while her sister, Rachel Munro, made her a silver ring engraved with the words ‘New Life’ to celebrate her achievement.

Group consultant Jane Aldous said: “Lucy has been such an inspriational member in group, offering ideas, support and encouragement to others.”

Mrs Aldous’ Slimming World groups meet in Diss on Tuesdays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at the Infant and Nursery School, and on Thursdays at 10am or noon at the Youth Centre in Shelfanger Road.
