There was some Starston success at a dog show held in the village last month.

Held at Glebe Meadow on Saturday, June 28, proceeds from the event went to Starston Charities.

Starston winners included Jane German and her border terrier Bracken, who won in the terriers, hounds and working dogs.

Sam Colman enjoyed success in the junior handler section with his Labrador, and he also went on to get reserve best in show, and was presented a dog bowl by Adnams.

In the veteran category, 92-year-old Irene Waugh repeated last year’s success with her 17-year-old spaniel.

Patricia Hepple, who helped to organise the event, said: “We thought it went well. The numbers were down but we were competing with Wimbledon and the World Cup and a rather appalling weather forecast.

“People told us how much they enjoyed it and we enjoyed it too.”
