A man from south Norfolk has begun a 15-year jail term after being found guilty of twelve counts of rape and one count of assault.
Karl Shaw, 34, named only as from South Norfolk for legal reasons, was found guilty of the offences at an earlier trial in May.
He was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court last week.
All of the offences took place in the south Norfolk area between January and October last year and involved one female victim.
Shaw was sentenced to 15 years’ in prison and will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register upon release.
He was also given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
Commenting on the sentence, detective sergeant Lee Diggins, from the Adult Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “Shaw showed a total disregard for his victim during the offences which were of a violent nature.
“The victim had placed her trust in Shaw, which he repeatedly abused and she showed great courage in contacting us and giving evidence against him.
“This sentence reflects the severity and serious nature of this case.
“As a Constabulary we are dedicated to supporting victims and witnesses and will always take robust action against those responsible for sexual and violent crimes.”
