The Sheringham Shantymen put on a performance in Stradbroke in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Staged at Stradbroke High School and organised by the Stradbroke and District branch of the Royal British Legion, more than 220 people attended Concert Overlord. Today marks 70 years since the D-Day Landings, code-named Operation Overlord. There was a draw, organised by John and Jill Graham, and a floral display was provided by Rev David Streeter. Three D-Day veterans, Ted Bootle, Alan King and Len Fox were in place for the Drumhead Ceremony under the direction of Suffolk RBL Chaplain, Rev Richard Stretch. The Normandy Veterans Association standard was carried by Tristan Everitt of Long Stratton and the RBL County Standard by Gordon Palastanga of Ixworth. Charmaine Cooper played a number of songs, while the last post was played by Jude Mills.
