Sarah Coulter is running the London Marathon for her son and many other children who are members of the 1st Fressingfield Scout Group.
Goodwin Hall, in New Street, has been used by the scout group for more than half a century. But without running water and an inside toilet, the group have set themselves a £200,000 target to build a new hall.
Mrs Coulter, whose ten-year-old son Adam is a member of the group, is another marathon debutant.
“They need to raise £200,000 to get a new scout hall, and any extra money is beneficial,” she said. “People who have run it have told me it is worth all of the running. It will be an amazing thing to do.”
Fressingfield Scout leader Andrew Aalders-Dunthorne added: “The hall has been home to the scout group for 50-odd years. It does not have an inside toilet or any running water, and it is an ageing property.
“We need to make sure we have proper facilities for our young people. We have got this big push to raise £200,000 in the next 12 months for a facility to ensure that scouting in this part of the country stays alive and vibrant for a long time to come.”
