Starting school for the first time can be a bewildering experience but luckily for the youngsters who have just joined the reception class at Stradbroke Primary School, there is a friendly face to welcome them - Ron the Rabbit.
The cuddly toy lives in the classroom especially to help new pupils settle in.
Eight new reception children have joined the class of 11 Year One pupils and they are working on the topic ‘All About Me’. They are also enjoying playing in the outdoor classroom where there is a role play area.
Next term they will move onto a Space topic with a dark den in the classroom and creating the planets, plus performing in a nativity play to look forward to at Christmas.
They are looked after by reception teachers Emma Hill and Helen Sanders and teaching assistants Karen Hillen and Lucy Knight. Mrs Hill said the children had all settled in well. “We have good links with the onsite Tiddlewinks nursery which makes it easier for the children,” she said.
