I find the strikes by the public sector unjustified and cowardly.
They are well aware that whatever the cost to the county, or harm to the people, their jobs will still be there.
Unlike the private sector where the right to strike for most workers is all but meaningless because of strong competition by companies all out for business, those who are employed in the public sector get cheap products and services while because of generous pay, pensions, early retirement – now ultra early retirement – and other fringe benefits. The general public have to pay excessively for public services, not forgetting a large number of people who make no contribution to anything.
It seems to be lost on public employees that their jobs at whatever level of pay or pension only exist because those employed in the private sector go out and work just as hard, often more so, than the public sector, to pay the tax that provides the funding for public services.
