As I am sure you are already aware the traffic problems in Vinces Road Diss can be a real bind .

It can take up to 45 minutes to depart Midwich’s car Park at the top of Vinces Road and finally enter Victoria Road. Tonight (July 10) is no exception in fact the queue looks likely to take around 60 minutes to traverse!

We have been talking to local council about what they can do, we have contacted Richard Bacon’s office, our local MP, to follow this through, so far we have been offered a ‘Jam Cam’. This is a CCTV camera attached to a pole at the roundabout with Victoria Road showing whether the traffic is heavy or not.

This is not the solution, just a very expensive sticking plaster that will not resolve the problem. We campaigned with the Highways department and Persimmon Homes to allow an egress route into Frenze Road prior to the latest housing estate being built.

We were then told an amount of money would be provided by Persimmon to help with the traffic issues in Vinces Road. Nothing has happened even though the housing estate was finished over a year ago!

The infrastructure in Diss needs dramatic improvement to resolve this problem not only for Vinces Road but for the road system full stop.

If Diss wants to continuing growing and providing a base for people to work changes need to take place.

I am writing to you from my desk looking at cars stuck in our car park at 6.05pm on Thursday, July 10. Not sure what time I will leave tonight!
