“A quintessential country pub with a real sense of community,” is how the new owners of Pulham Market’s Crown Inn describe their plans for the hostelry.
Couple Jon Bingham and Amy Beevers, who also own the River Garden in Norwich, will be running both pubs and said they were excited about the new purchase.
“This is a great opportunity for us to put a community pub back at the heart of Pulham Market,” said Mr Bingham, 33, who was born in Norwich.
He added: “We are looking to follow the same ethos that we’ve got at the River Garden, which is very much food-led.”
Alan Crowest, licensed trade consultant at TW Gaze, has been handling the sale. He described the Crown Inn, which has been closed since last year, as “a lovely Grade II listed building with a wealth of period features in a wonderful position overlooking the village green.” He added: “I am sure that Jon and Amy will return the pub to its former glory.”
The couple, who met after Jon bought the River Garden seven-and-a-half years ago, are planning to open on the last weekend of August.
Some of the ideas they’ve put forward so far include changing the old function room into a restaurant, and focusing on getting local social clubs to gather in the pub.
