Eleven cyclists from a pub in north Suffolk completed a 21.2 mile bike ride through ten local villages in aid of The Motor Neurone Disease Association and East Anglia’s Children’s Hopsices on Saturday.
Organised by Ben Hopwood, who works as a barman at The Cross Keys in Redgrave, the team cycled through South and North Lopham, Kenninghall, East Harling, Garboldisham, Hopton, Thelnetham, Hinderclay, Rickinghall and Botesdale.
Mr Hopwood estimated they have raised about £1,500 which will be split between the charities - the first which was chosen in support of Mr Hopwood’s uncle who has Motor Neurone Disease, and the second which was chosen by a regular at the pub.
Mr Hopwood said: “It was a really good challenge. Myself and the majority of the group don’t do much cycling so we were all fairly knackered by the end. But it was quite rewarding knowing that we’ve raised a lot of money for two good causes. There is already talk about doing one again next year.”
