Police warning over use of counterfeit bank notes in Diss

Police are urging businesses to be vigilant following a number of incidents in Diss involving counterfeit bank notes.

The warning comes after a number of fake £20 notes were used in shops and pubs over the Christmas period.

Officers are keen to raise awareness among retailers and are advising businesses to be vigilant when handling cash.

PC James Stables, said: “I would urge shop staff to carry out basic security checks and make use of the ultraviolet scanning equipment which many premises have to check the authenticity of bank notes.”
