Officers are keen to raise awareness among retailers and are advising businesses to be vigilant when handling cash.
PC James Stables, said: “I would urge shop staff to carry out basic security checks and make use of the ultraviolet scanning equipment which many premises have to check the authenticity of bank notes.”
