Police urge public to help them
The importance of attending public meetings which help set local policing priorities has been stressed by senior figures in south Norfolk.
Diss Inspector Alice Scott and the town’s mayor Graham Minshull have called on residents living in and around Diss and Harleston to attend the latest Neighbourhood Safety Meeting on Monday.
Norfolk Police will use the meeting at Wortwell Community Centre to set its policing priorities for the area over the next few months.
Inspector Alice Scott said: “We work on crime trends, intelligence and crime patterns and try to prevent crime in specific areas but we want the public to tell us what is most important to them.
“If the public tell us what they want us to work on as a local policing team, we can be directly responsive to what our community wants.”
The meeting is attended by a panel of members made up of representatives from the local police, South Norfolk District Council and other agencies. It gives residents a chance to raise any issues or concerns they may have.
Mr Minshull said: “It is important that local residents attend the meeting, as the police are only as good as the information and feedback they receive from the public.”
