Plans to move Eye library from Buckshorn Lane to the Cross Street building have been halted by a feasibility study.

Carried out by Sarah Hucklesby, the town council was told it would cost £188,000 to bring the building up to scratch, but would increase space by less than 10 square feet.

Eye Town Council has decided to recommend to Suffolk County Council it should invest a proportion of the capital receipt from the sale of the Cross Street buildings for the improvement of the library services in the town.

The council stressed it is still fully committed to retaining the library service in the town.
