Mid Suffolk District Council’s top executive committee of councillors has provisionally voted to increase council tax and rents on its council houses.
The tax rise would be 1.72 per cent, the first hike for four years, equivalent to five pence per week for a band ‘D’ tax payer.
Council house rent increases have not been confirmed but could be up to 5.5 per cent on average. The committee will then meet again in February before making a final decision.
The proposal will also go before the council’s scrutiny committee and will be finally voted by the full council on February 27.
