Phones 4 U submits application for Diss
A mobile phone company has sparked rumours that it will be moving into Diss after submitting an application to display signs both inside and outside of an empty shop in the town.
An application has been submitted to South Norfolk Council by Paul Evans of Phones 4 U, to put up one internal illuminated fascia sign, one external illuminated projecting sign and one non illuminated fascia sign.
The application is for the former Clinton Cards shop in Mere Street.
Commenting on the application on the South Norfolk Council website, the conservation officer said: “The proposed arrangement of signage is largely sympathetic to the existing character and appearance of the building, but I think the external ground floor sign should be omitted as it is not necessary with the proposed hanging sign which will be visible from the north and south sides. With this amendment I have no objection to what is proposed.”
Phones 4 U were not able to comment before the Diss Express went to press.
Comments on the application are currently welcome at www.south-norfolk.gov.uk
