The new headteacher at Old Buckenham High School says he wants to improve GCSE results at the school.

Aron Whiles, who lives in South Walsham, was appointed earlier this month, and also hopes upgrades can be made to the ICT infrastructure.

“The one thing is clearly the school has not had the results it has wanted in recent years,” he said.

“There is a significant job to do in improving GCSE exam results and that is a key focus for us going forward.

“You can always do better and always do more.”

Mr Whiles began his teaching career in Birmingham in 1998, before moving to Norfolk in 2010 to become vice-principal at City Academy Norwich.

“I have been made to feel very welcome by the staff, students, parents, and the community as well,” he added.

“The community is very supportive of the school and I have had lots of support. It is a school that really is the centre of the community.
