The ownership of a popular and historic north Suffolk pub has changed hands.
Jon Reeves, who also runs The Queen’s Head pub in Dennington, is now at the helm of The Swan, in Hoxne.
Mr Reeves, who has been involved in the pub and restaurant trade for 13 years, will not make major changes to the pub before the end of the year, but does have rebranding and refurbishment plans for the venue - which dates back to the 15th Century, and is Grade II-listed - which he hopes to enact by Easter 2013.
He said: “Not much work needs to be done, but the place could do with a bit of a lift.
“I was attracted by the building and the location of the pub, and since opening for the first time last Thursday, word got round, and the people around here have come out to show their support for the pub, which we can hopefully go on to maintain.”
Mr Reeves, who is living on site, wants to better the quality of food served at The Swan.
His aim is to use more local produce and fresh food, and establish the pub as a go-to venue for quality meals.
Mr Reeves has brought along a staff member from The Queen’s Head to work at his new Hoxne venture, Poppy Paul. At this stage, though, he is unsure as to whether more jobs will be created at the pub, which is located in Low Street.
